Revising my work has always been an overwhelming part of my writing process. Where to begin? What to keep? Which “precious” words should be cut? Do my transitions work? Have I said what I wanted to say? Maya helps the floundering step away from their nasty self-critic and recognize the value in their work. While she offers strategies to help analyze a piece, she encourages us all to honor our visions. I believe that what makes Maya an exceptional teacher/facilitator is the way she values her students, their beliefs and the ideas they bring to each conversation.

Feedback Sessions

Whether you’re chipping away at a single piece of writing or contemplating a larger project, it’s essential to have a trusted reader or group of readers from whom you can receive not just honest but meaningful, useful reflections on your work, as well as insights and specific suggestions to improve it, which is to say to accomplish what you for it to do.

As a longtime editor and creative companion to writers looking for help refining their work, and as a working writer myself, I am uniquely positioned to be able to offer this kind of support.

If you are struggling with finalizing a written piece and are looking for either an assessment of the work as a whole or specific feedback, I am offering weekly office hours designed to quickly and efficiently address these concerns.

Feedback sessions take place on Thursdays and Fridays between 3:00-6:00 p.m. Eastern (Thursdays) and 2:00-5:00 p.m. Eastern (Fridays). Sessions last 25 minutes and you can send me your work (up to 1,500 words) in advance to make the most of our time together. The fee for each session is $57. To get started, simply fill out the scheduler below with your preferred date and time for your session, then email your writing to me with a note with any thoughts that I should keep in mind as I’m reading. Any questions or need to schedule time outside the session window? Just ask.
