Mapping the Unmappable: A Conversation in Poetry with Michelle Latvala

Poet Michelle Latavala joins me meet to read poetry using the theme of the reading ("Mapping the Unmappable" is inspired by a line in one of Michelle's poems, “Migration by Plane Wings”: a migration fueled by earth / we are all losing, this animal body stuck / somewhere unmappable, like luggage / never loaded.

We’ll use this as our loose guide for which work we’ll choose to share. Interspersed with the readings will be an informal conversation in response to the poems, as well as the reflections, concerns, ideas, and experiences that have risen up in the listening. There will be space to ask questions, too! Tickets available by donation. Sign up here.

Listen for Revision: An interactive editing workshop for writers

Listening for Revision is designed for writers interested in moving their work toward completion. I'll be sharing selections of unedited writing of my own and will walk through my process of revising and shaping these pieces, as well as offering ideas, methods, and practices for “tuning in” to our writing with closer attention. Participants will then have an opportunity to experiment by crafting a revision from a piece I will provide. An informal Q & A takes place throughout the session. To sign up, go here..
